π‘ THE WIRED MIND PROFILE
Testosterone increases dopamine synthesis and receptor sensitivity in the prefrontal cortex β the brain region most impaired in ADHD. Men with ADHD often have lower basal testosterone. The overlap is neurobiology, not coincidence.
The AM window is when testosterone peaks and dopamine function is naturally highest. The Wired Mind stack front-loads compounds that support dopamine synthesis and receptor sensitivity at that window β and uses PM to prevent the overnight depletion that resets everything.
Build my protocol β freeTHE MECHANISM
βChildren and adults with ADHD show significantly lower serum zinc concentrations than controls β and zinc supplementation at 55mg/day produced significant reduction in teacher-rated ADHD severity scores over 12 weeks.β
Young SN, Clinical Nutrition (2007); Arnold LE et al., J Child Adolesc Psychopharmacol (2005)
Zinc is a direct cofactor in dopamine synthesis and regulates dopamine transporter (DAT) activity β the same transporter targeted by stimulant medications. Correcting zinc deficiency doesn't replace medication, but it raises the functional floor that medication acts on.
THE WIRED MIND STACK
DHA is a structural component of prefrontal cortex neurons; EPA modulates dopamine receptor sensitivity and reduces neuroinflammation. Meta-analyses confirm omega-3 reduces ADHD symptom severity, particularly inattention. Take AM β fat-soluble; pairs with breakfast for absorption.
Zinc regulates dopamine transporter activity and is a direct cofactor in dopamine synthesis. Zinc deficiency is significantly more prevalent in ADHD populations (Arnold et al., 2005). Bisglycinate form avoids zinc sulfate nausea and maximizes mucosal uptake.
Vitamin D receptors are expressed in dopaminergic brain regions. Low D3 correlates with higher ADHD severity scores; men with testosterone below mid-range have lower D3 on average. AM delivery aligns with the cortisol awakening response.
B6 (pyridoxine) is the rate-limiting cofactor in converting L-DOPA to dopamine. B12 supports myelin sheath integrity and is depleted in men with elevated homocysteine, common in ADHD. Methylated forms (P5P, methylcobalamin) bypass MTHFR variants that impair metabolism.
Modulates monoamine oxidase (MAO) activity and reduces dopamine breakdown without the habituation risk of stimulants. Human trials show improved reaction time and reduced mental fatigue. AM timing leverages the testosterone and cortisol awakening peak for maximal cognitive window.
Magnesium deficiency is more prevalent in ADHD than the general population β chronic sympathetic activation depletes it rapidly. PM glycinate supports GABA receptor function and sleep architecture quality, which determines next-day dopamine availability.
Promotes alpha-wave brain activity and GABA upregulation without sedation. Softens the dopamine-depletion crash in the evening for men on stimulant medications. Combined with PM magnesium, improves sleep onset and reduces cortisol-driven arousal that disrupts ADHD sleep.
TIMING NOTE
L-theanine and magnesium are PM for a reason β they soften the dopamine crash without sedating you into the evening. If you're on stimulant medication, take Rhodiola and B-complex at least 2 hours apart from stimulants. Do not stack this protocol with additional tyrosine or phenylalanine without medical guidance.
βThe Wired Mind stack is the first thing I've tried that makes my Vyvanse feel consistent instead of unpredictable. The PM magnesium was the piece I was missing β I stopped dreading the evening crash.β
